Opening ceremonies: Gigantic flag on the left field wall
Surprise guests: The Superbowl Champion New England Patriots. That’s Ty Law holding the trophy.
Patriots throw out the first ball(s) to the Red Sox.
Pedro Martinez on the mound. He had a bad day, leaving many fans worried about his health. (Note this year’s new red clay in the infield and on the mound.)
Pedro was not the losing pitcher, as the Sox came back to tie the score before finally losing 12-11 to the Blue Jays.
Jose Offerman was both a hero and a goat. He hit a solo home run in the first inning, but later failed to get down a bunt in a crucial situation.
New first baseman, Tall Tony Clark, hit a 3-run homer in his Red Sox debut.
Bleacher crowd. These folks were lucky to be in the sun (when it was out). The game lasted four hours in cold and windy conditions.
